About the Bebop Wiki Functions
A Wiki allows you to edit the content of web pages directly in the browser.
Wiki pages can contain WikiLinks which are marked by red dotted borders . A click on a WikiLink opens an editor for a new page. Moving the mouse over a WikiLink will show other edit options. If you want to create a WikiLink yourself, switch into the edit mode and add a [link in square brackets].
A click on a WikiLink opens an editor for a new page. Moving the mouse over a WikiLink will show other edit options. If you want to create a WikiLink yourself, switch into the edit mode and add a [link in square brackets]. Note that Wiki pages also appear in the Blog and other views. It might be usefull that you provide an abstract that describes the purpose of the Wiki. You can edit the abstract in the Blog view or by clicking the "Info" button in the Wiki view.
The other main edit operations are:
Creating a new Wiki: Every folder can be transformed into a Wiki. By default a folder has a dynamic index.html page, which shows a table of content of the container. Click "Add new Page" if you want to replace this dynamic page with a static one.
Editing the text of the page: By clicking "Edit this Page" you are led to a full page editor. In this editor you can add, delete, change text as in typical word processor. If you place a text in square brackets you create a WikiLink which can be directed to another Wiki Page or document. These WikiLinks are activated after you save the edited page. WikiLinks which point to another page are displayed as ordinary HTML links. All WikiLinks without existing target are marked by red dotted borders.
Editing the WikiLinks:WikiLinks are only active in the standard Wiki View (not the page editor). Once you click a WikiLink you are led to a new page editor which allows you to directly write the content the link should point to. If your mouse moves over a WikiLink Bebop pops up various other edit options
- Rename: Allows to edit and change the text within the square brackets.
- Add Page: Creates a new page for the link. Opens a dialog window in which you can enter a filename and a title for the new page. Typically the proposed name and title can be used without modification. If you want to inform other group members about the new page via RSS-Reades you should also add a short abstract which describes the purpose of the new page.
- Create Folder & Page: Create a new subfolder with a new index page. This option should be used if you want to create a subwiki or if you want a new common heading for a collection of pages. Opens a dialog window in which you can enter a foldername, a title, and a description for of the new folder. This information also appears in RSS-Feeds which inform the group members about relevant changes.
- Upload File: Opens a dialog for a file upload. This option should be used if you want to link to a Word-Document, a PDF or any other Non-HTML content. The file is uploaded to the server and directly accessible from the WikiLink.
- Upload Image: Opens a dialog for an image upload. This option should be used if you want to directly show an image within the browser page. The uploaded image is put at place of the WikiLink. Use the Image align option, if you want to control the relative position of the image. The maximum default size of the image is 200 pixels. You can change the position and the size of the image after the upload. Select the image in the WYSIWYG edit mode and click the image icon.
Text Editing with the WYSIWYG/HTML Editor
If you check the "WYSIWYG" (What You See Is What You Get) option at the right sidebar Bebop will use the TinyMCE HTML Editor which offers typical word processor capabilities. Note that this editor only works in IE 6 and newer versions of Netscape, Mozilla, & Firefox. Opera, Safari, and other browsers are currently not supported. Alternatively, you can use an Ascii-Editor which uses the ReStructuredText formatting options.
The icons at the bottom of the Editor have the usual meaning. We explain only a few important here. For all others see the Tiny MCE Help.

Use this option if you copy and paste content from Word-Documents into Bebop. This option ensures that the copied HTML is clean and standard conform. This can save you a lot of trouble. |
