Where:

e-Inclusion is a necessary prerequisite to let people with different kinds
of handicaps stay as equal members of our society. Quite a few people
work towards solutions in the field of eLearning, collaborative
learning, shared knowledge construction and the like -- as we have been
able to see in our previous workshop in 2008 as part of the ECTEL
conference. Due to this prior successful event, we will organize the
second in this series of e-Inclusion in eLearning workshops. This time,
our workshop will be part of the international eLearning Baltics (eLBa)
conference and congress in Rostock, Germany.
It will be held on June 17, 2009.

In this workshop we would like to go further into the question how
researcher and developer for special solutions for elderly people and
people with learning disabilities can benefit from each others'
experiences. We will address the comparable difficulties experienced by
very young learners, learners with handicap or disabilities and elderly
people when using ICT. Our assumption is that developing computer
supported learning environments and utilities for every day life shares
more common properties than the diverse target groups let expect.
Considering not only technical but pedagogical and contextual aspects
and intended outcomes and needs is a key for success solutions.

Main Topics

Topics are (but not restricted to):

computer enriched environments/scenarios to support everyday life management of handicapped or elderly people

practice reports

study results about difficulties with and/or advantages of computers used by elderly or handicapped people

software developed for the target groups

research/studies about differences and similarities observed when handicapped and elderly people are using computers

Submissions

Submission Deadline is: April 1st, 2009 (No, it's not a joke!)

Language of the workshop will be English.

Submissions should be in GI style, according to the eLBa style (see eLBa
website for further details).

Papers must be submitted in (WORD) format using the conference management system EasyChair: http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iel09

If you do not have an EasyChair account, you will have to create one for your paper submissions.

Paper length: 3-6 pages (short paper), 8-12 pages (long paper)

Publications will be peer-reviewed by at least two reviewers.

We are planning to publish the proceedings as a book.

Furthermore the authors of the best papers will be invited to prepare an
extended version of their publication for our Special Issue of the Journal of Assistive Technologies.
